President's Message

Arthur V. Martin, Ph.D.

President • Principal Research Scientist

Arthur Martin was nominated for the 2011 Kochon Prize for his work related to Tuberculosis.

A hospital’s highest priority is providing a safe environment for patients as well as staff and visitors. If you manage a school your priority is the same for your students, staff and visitors. A commercial office establishment always wants a safe, healthy environment to prevent unnecessary illness which leads to lost productivity. These same concerns span the entire spectrum of occupied spaces. The prevalence of multi drug resistant infectious pathogens poses a great risk to successfully accomplishing that task in any environment.

These potential infections include:

  • MRSA
  • Surgical Site Infections (SSI)
  • Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABS)
  • Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP)
  • Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI)
  • Clostridium Difficile-Associated Disease (CDI) 16
  • H1N1
  • Mycobactrium tuberculosis
  • --- Respiratory invasive acute and chronic diseases of all types
  • --- Cutaneous diseases picked up from contaminated surfaces and objects.

  • Normal procedures such as hand washing, isolation and general sterilization procedures overlook the fundamental issue of airborne pathogenic bio-aerosol contamination. Surface contamination is a major issue because we do not think about what we cannot see and the “hand to mouth” avenue is a primary route into the body’s immune system. Exogenous fungal, bacterial and viral mephitic organisms typically resist desiccation and become life threatening to the average patient. Immunocompromised patients are at even greater risk due to the infectivity of these pathogens. Mitigating danger through infection control is your highest responsibility. A very specialized skill set is required to assess your overall life threatening hazards. A multidisciplinary background in both Environmental and Mechanical Engineering as well as Microbiological Building Assessment combined with the ability to coalesce information from your unique facility situation is the only way to be successful.

We will work with your current infection control department, maintenance staff or risk management team to show you how a Systems Approach is the key to reducing contamination that can affect your infection and illness rates. Our 100+ combined years of global expertise helping identify and correct pathogenic bio-aerosol and surface contamination through the application of breakthrough infection control materials and methodology will ensure that your facility will be safe from chemical, biological, bacterial or viral related problems. The M3 System is innovative, inclusive and effective in mitigating infections. We can also help you avoid needless litigation.

As with a hospital, any facility has concerns about the far reaching effects of visible and invisible pathogens. Those pathogens may be biological, bacterial, viral or chemical but it is imperative that you identify them and quantify them. These steps must be taken in order to ensure a safe and healthy indoor environment. Through GICC LLC you have the qualified expertise to Measure, Manage and Monitor these potential deadly problems and assure your employees, visitors and the community of your commitment to safety, health and well-being.

Your job is running a successful and profitable facility regardless of what type of facility it is. You are in your position because you do it well. Our job is helping you reduce contamination related issues leading to infections, illness, absenteeism and lost productivity. We are the premier global consultant in this field because no one does it better than we do.

Pathogens such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, yeasts and even chemicals affect more than just people. Invasive Aspergillosis, fatal to humans, has been known to be fatal as well to thoroughbred horses valued at millions of dollars. Poultry and livestock are affected by Salmonella and E-coli just as are humans and it can decimate a flock. Widespread fungal contamination is a problem in the Textile, Transportation and Agriculture Industries posing serious human health consequences.

“Our foundational focus is the elimination of pathogens so your business will survive and thrive. No one does it better. Contact us today and build a better future.”
